Company Profile.
Who are we? We are artists, we shape the earth. My father owned his own excavation business as a small boy I grew up surrounded by large pieces of equipment and muddy construction workers. I entered the work force at a young age as a bagger at a local grocery store and quickly realized that it would take something more to satisfy me. Soon after graduation, I entered the construction industry where I took advantage of every opportunity to expand my experience and knowledge of the different jobs within the field. My passion surfaced and it was hard to escape; I was destined to follow in the footsteps of my father. I say that I am an artist because excavation is not just digging holes or pushing dirt, it is a form of art. I start with a blank canvas; utilize my equipment, knowledge, experience and creativity to complete a job so that it is not only functional but also esthetically pleasing. After twelve years of working for well-established construction companies, I made the choice to venture out on my own. I was born into a family of entrepreneurs, so while starting my own excavation business seemed like an overwhelming task it also felt like natural progression. My thought of starting a business, was not based on the thought of pure benefits on my part, but on the countless opportunities that it would present. Some of the opportunities that I speak of are teaching, building trust, learning and inspiring. I began working solely in the excavation trade around 1994 were I worked for a small family excavation company running equipment. Having learned a lot with the company I began to I realized their lack of motivation and professionalism, which prompted me to begin searching for a more professional work environment were I would be able to enhanced my talents. In 1996, I accepted a job as a general machine operator for a more professional excavation company. The owner quickly noticed me due to my attitude towards the company; I believe that when you treat a company like your own the company will prosper. I noticed many negative attitudes amongst my fellow employees and began trying to think of ways to inspire them. I suggested implementing company meetings, picnics, setting up CPR classes, construction-training classes, things to raise the employee moral. Once these events were in place the moral began to improve, employees started feeling a sense of pride. I worked my way up to the lead Superintendent of the company. After helping establish this prosperous business, I realized that I had done my job here and that it was time for me to progress.Upon giving my notice, I started Barrasso Excavation, with intent to stay independent for a period. Within time, my customer base became too large for one individual to handle. This led to the formation of Barrasso Excavation, Inc. Currently we are a company of four employees strong with an everyday increasing volume of business. Barrasso Excavation, Inc. will continue to become even more successful in the years to come. We have intent to increasingly grow into one of the areas largest excavation companies within the next 10 years. Without hesitation, I can state that, Barrasso Excavation, Inc. will be capable of staying with the trends of the industry, not only through technology, but also by maintaining professional employees. The foundation of our company is based on eight key beliefs; they are Accountability, Achievement, Action, Attitude, Balance, Boldness, Challenge and Commitment.
